Australia
Down Under…. I discovered this country on a 3-week trip in 2015. That short trip was the trigger point in my life, the start of my travel journey.
18 months later I was back on the road, this time on a Working Holiday Visa. What was meant to be a 6-month experience, ended to become 2 years…
My Mitsubishi Express Campervan was my transport and beloved home for the hole amount of time spent in Australia. It took me all around, through the middle and from top to the bottom. I enjoyed all sort of hikes along the way, from beach walks to forests, waterfall or stunning rock formations… Australia’s national parks are jaw dropping to see.
To support my travels, I was following the fruit picking seasons all around Australia. Stopped when I wanted to stop and worked when I ran out of money, this journey taught me a lot about myself. Challenges never stop in life, but the way we tackle them is key.
Also, Campervan life taught me how little we really need in life to enjoy the simplicity and given things, such as a hot shower… to minimize our belongings and attachment feelings towards it…to just enjoy the essential things in life, a good warm meal, a shade under a tree, good company around the fire and/or just the little details in nature around us, which many of us forgot to notice and appreciate.
The sweet taste of freedom and special encounters along the way, made this whole journey a life-changing experience. I’m glad I took the courage to do it and grew into the person to whom I am now.
Some specs: I spend approximately 1 year travelling and 1 year working on the way.
My Van accompanied me for approximately 130’000 km.
